DIN 77200

CIBORIUS is certified to DIN 77200.

DIN 77200 is the definitive German series of standards for the provision of security services (guarding and security duties). It defines detailed, industry-specific quality and performance requirements for security companies and counts as objective, independently audited evidence of quality.

Looking for a security provider certified to DIN 77200?
Nationwide · Audited quality · Highest standards

The standard goes considerably further than generic quality management systems such as ISO 9001, because it is written specifically for the requirements and particularities of the guarding industry.

Current state of the standard

  • DIN 77200-1 – general requirements for security service providers
  • DIN 77200-2 – extended requirements for particular fields of service (for example critical infrastructure, public passenger transport, refugee and asylum accommodation)
  • DIN 77200-3 – requirements for certification bodies and conformity assessment

Purpose and significance

DIN 77200 creates transparency, comparability and verifiable quality in organisation, personnel, processes and documentation. It is today the most demanding and most widely recognised quality mark in the German security industry – particularly among public-sector clients, operators of critical infrastructure and large industrial companies.

Core areas of requirement

  • Industry-specific quality management system
  • Extended qualification of staff and regular further training (beyond the statutory competence examination under § 34a of the German Trade Regulation Act)
  • Structured processes (quotations, contracts, duty instructions, documentation of deployment)
  • Technical and organisational equipment
  • Reporting and emergency chains, crisis management
  • Data protection and compliance (strongly oriented towards the GDPR)
  • Continuous improvement and internal audits
  • Adequate insurance cover (public liability)

The certification procedure

Certification is carried out exclusively by accredited, independent certification bodies (for example DEKRA, VdS, TÜV).
Certificates are normally valid for three years, with annual surveillance audits.
The specific scope (for example property protection, mobile patrol services, event security, critical infrastructure) is stated explicitly in the certificate.

Benefits of certification

For clients: audited and traceable quality, a higher level of security, better fulfilment of tender and compliance requirements.

For security companies: a strong competitive and quality credential, streamlined internal processes, and a considerably better position in public and critical-infrastructure tenders.

DIN 77200 has established itself as the definitive quality benchmark in the professional security industry.
